Flush Bottom Outlet Valves

The original application for bottom outlet or drain valves was to drain fluids from tanks or reactors. The use of the drain valve has been been expanded in to areas with high viscous fluids, slurries, powders, reverse flow, injection and sampling applications and areas where absolute positive shut-off (zero leakage) are required.

Fetterolf has two basic flush bottom outlet drain valve designs - the Ram-Seal and Rod-Seal valve. The Ram-Seal valve is a Class VI, zero leakage drain valve suitable for most chemical, petrochemical or oil refinery applications. The Rod-Seal is designed specifically for media with a high solid content (greater than 30%) or for lethal service applications.

An excellent guide to the advantages of a flush bottom outlet valve and good installation practices can be found in the Technical Library.
